The Innovative Library Classroom

May 12, 2016 (9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.)
Radford University, located in Radford, Virginia

We are excited to announce the third annual meeting of The Innovative Library Classroom, a day-long conference dedicated to the exploration of innovative practices related to teaching and learning in libraries. The Innovative Library Classroom is an experience that has grown out of the regional LEO (Libraries Exchange Observation) project.  LEO was originally created by instruction librarians from three southwest Virginia institutions:  Radford University, Hollins University, and Virginia Tech.  The goal of the group was to promote cross-institutional peer-observation, and now includes group meetings and workshops that take place each semester. LEO now includes participants from Roanoke College, Virginia Western Community College and New River Community College.

The Innovative Library Classroom will continue to be based out of the southwest Virginia region, and will be hosted by institutions that are LEO members.

The Innovative Library Classroom is supported by the Virginia Chapter of the Association of College & Research Libraries (VLACRL) and a number of Virginia institutions, including Radford University, Virginia Tech, and Hollins University and will be held on the campus of Radford University in Radford, Virginia, on May 12, 2016

We are also excited to continue our partnership with Internet Reference Services Quarterly. Selected papers based on TILC presentations will be published, subject to double blind peer review, in a special issue dedicated to The Innovative Library Classroom in fall 2016. Information about the journal is available on the IRSQ website, and any questions can be directed to IRSQ Editor, Jason Sokoloff (jksok@uw.edu).
