The Innovative Library Classroom 2016: Bringing Balance to Our Success

We are excited to announce the third annual meeting of The Innovative Library Classroom, a day-long conference dedicated to the exploration of innovative practices related to teaching and learning in libraries.

The Innovative Library Classroom is supported by the Virginia Chapter of the Association of College & Research Libraries (VLACRL) and a number of Virginia institutions, including Radford University, Virginia Tech, and Hollins University. The pre-conference and poster session will be held on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, and the main conference will be held at on Thursday May 12, 2016. All events will take place at Radford University in Radford, Virginia.

We are busily planning a conference experience full of new ideas, networking opportunities, and fun. Conference sessions and social opportunities will appeal to anyone involved in any aspect of library instruction, regardless of the size, type, or location of your institution--we welcome a diversity of perspectives and presenters! There will be a keynote speaker, 50-minute presentations, lightning talks, and a networking lunch. New this year is a pre-conference and a poster session the day before the main conference. Participation in the pre-conference is limited and requires an additional registration fee. All conference attendees are invited to the poster session.

We will be continuing our partnership with Internet Reference Services Quarterly in order to advance conference discussions beyond the conference. Selected papers based on conference presentations will be published, subject to double blind peer review, in a special issue dedicated to The Innovative Library Classroom in fall 2016. More information about IRSQ is available on the IRSQ website.

Registration for the main conference will be limited to 75 participants to facilitate opportunities to learn from and network with colleagues.

Registration for the pre-conference will be limited to 20 participants. You must attend the main conference to register for the pre-conference.
